Google Chrome Coming Out Of Beta!

Google chrome is coming out of its Beta development phase according to Techcrunch. Chrome is only three months old and its already coming out of its beta testing phase to become a full release milestone. I think this is great new and it looks like the folk at Google are throwing their full weight behind it.

I use Chrome exclusively on the PC. Its super stable (not crashed once on me) and super fast and that's the two qualities I have been looking for in a browser, but im still eagerly awaiting a Mac version. I hope that's going to drop soon.

Clean Coal Does Not Exist!

http://www.thisisreality.org

Clean coal just does not exist. Period. It really is a false illusion pushed by coal companies through out the US. If the coal plants 'capture and store' their carbon dioxide emission then they cannot, by any definition of the word, be considered clean.

Here are some basic facts:

And these are just some of the arguments against coal. There are absolutely no advantages to using coal over any other form of energy generation and the idea should be completely shelved as a non-option.

Check out Coal is Dirty (the cold hard facts) for more information.

Google OS Rumours Resurface

Engadget and The Boy Genius Reports are running with the most recent in a long series of rumours about the possibility of a Google Operating System.

Now this rumour has come round again because Net Applications (a well known technology market research firm) has noticed that a sizable number of Google IP addresses have been intentionally masking their user agent string before going out to the internet through their routers. The OS identifier has been stripped from the string in a way that cannot be mistaken for how their proxy servers strip the OS identifier. Therefore it is believed that Google are intentionally removing the OS identifier in an attempt to hide whatever they are running internally.

I have to admit that I still get excited every time this comes round. I just think that the possibilities of a full Google operating system are limitless and would undoubtedly change everything.

These fresh rumours are hinting at a possible union with Chrome and a Linux kernel based distribution. Therefore making chrome a souped-up version of the current browser (which is still in early beta). Perhaps Google are going to blend Android and Chrome to produce a hybrid browser for their own take on the cloud in an attempt to make their client more functional and powerful? Or perhaps its a fully fledged operating system?

I think it would be great for the Internet as a whole, finally we would have a better way of bringing desktop computing into the realm of the Internet.

Its all speculation at the moment, and it could more than likely turn out to be nothing more than a bunch of Googlers attempting to keep what they are running private, but it gets you thinking.

Good OS: Cloud based OS

Good OS has just (well yesterday.. :P) released details of their new cloud centric version of their web applications suite called gOS. This version is based around an entirely browser driven version of their current gOS web operating system.

Now I was more than slightly confuse about this when I first read it, but its essentially taking their rounded up 'operating system' as it stands (which is essentially a collection of VERY good web applications such as Gmail, Google Reader, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, Skype, Facebook....I think...etc) and running on top of a hybrid Linux based kernel.

At first I thought this would be a BIOS based operating system with quick start functionality and light web based applications such as the one included on the Voodoo Envy and based on the Splashtop. But instead it is intended to run alongside windows and enable the user to switch between gOS and Windows with a single click.

The Cloud OS will not run ontop of Windows but instead within its own compressed linux kernal with direct access to the hardware, hopefully making it very quick to startup and

Anyway, Im still a little confused (think a snake eating its own tail)...Im trying to find out more information about how it approaches the operating system stack and if it will only run within Linux.
