Saturns Infrared Rings

It feels like new discoveries even within our own solar system are happening daily. This one highlights the awesome scale of these discoveries. It shows that there is an almost invisible ring around one of the largest planets in our solar system. This new ring was discovered by NASA's Spitzer deep space observatory.

The image is an artists conception which simulates the infra red image taking by the Spitzer telescope. It shows the massive ice and dust ring 6 million kilometres (3.7 million miles) from the planet and extends for another 12 million kilometres (7.4 million miles) making the rings diameter equivalent to another three hundred Saturn's lined up side by side.

United Nations Free Online University

The UN Global Alliance for Information and Communications Technology and Development (GAID) has released plans for a tuition free (non-profit) online university program to offer higher education for the masses.

The actual scheme was was opened up for admission almost 2 weeks ago, without any promotion or big announcements but has already signed up some 200 eager students from 52 countries! Now that the word is officially out I'm hoping that more students sign up for this great opportunity whatever their background.

The online University program intends on using free and opensourced tools and teaching materials (the way it should be really) and P2P to deliver the materials to students.

Chrome Extensions

So it looks like Google are getting round to incorporating extensions into Chrome. I cant wait for the results to be honest.

Make that face!

3 men go into a hotel...

3 men go into a hotel. The man behind the desk said the room is $30. So each man pays $10 and went to the room...

A while later the man behind the desk realized the room was only $25. So he sent the bell boy to the guys room with $5. On the way the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly, between 3 men so he gave them a $1 and kept $2 for himself. This meant that the men each paid $9 for the room which is a total of $27, add the $2 which the bellboy kept and that is a total of $29. Where is the other $1.

Can you work out where the extra or unaccounted for dollar went? did the bell boy bump them and run down the pub with the extra cash? :P I dunno :)
